Garfield High School - Home of the Purple Eagles

I am pleased you found your way to the Garfield High School website.  Garfield High School in Terre Haute, Indiana, closed its doors for good in 1971.  Since then, many have wanted to look back at their days and hopefully this site is a good place to start.  Let us know of any suggestions for the site or if you want to contribute to this site.

Memories

Zimmerman Award - In 1961, Garfield fullback Emmet Tyler was presented with the Zimmerman Award.  Tyler was the city's top scorer with 68 points in nine games.

Thanksgiving Dinner - Also in 1961, if you wanted to have Thanksgiving dinner out, you could have gone to the Woodridge Restaurant on U.S. 40 East for their all-you-can-eat Thanksgiving smorgasboard.  Cost was only $2.25.

We bring all of Garfield's classes together - people who value group discussions as a platform for exchanging ideas, reminiscing about the "good old days" and finding old friends.
